The Art of Storytelling: The Beginning
This is the first step to telling your story. Throughout this course, you’ll learn how to work through the stages of writing beginning with the idea or concept. Along the way, you’ll uncover your distinct creative process. Supported by a writing community and guidance from a passionate instructor, allow your curiosity and imagination to unfurl into the story that’s been waiting to be told.
Meet Rebecca
Rebecca Donovan began her writing career as a self-published author in 2011 with her debut novel, Reason to Breathe. The Breathing Series trilogy was picked up by a publisher and re-released in 2013, and published in 13 countries - selling nearly 2 million copies worldwide. It is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller. She followed up with another bestselling standalone, What If in 2014. Along with her indie published duology The Cursed Series in 2020.
Rebecca is passionate about lighting up the creative spark within others - no matter their modality. But when it comes to storytelling, she can talk for hours about ideas and concepts. Plot points and character development. She’s enthralled by others’ creative process and imagination. Rebecca walks through the world (and more often, the woods) in awe and wonder. Stories are all around us.
In Person
In-person sessions take place at the Creative Being studio (29 Main Street - Amesbury, MA) every Wednesday beginning November 5th from 6:30 - 8:30pm. The week of November 24-28, there will not be a class. Instead you will meet with Rebecca individually to review your personal creative process.
If are unable to make one of the classes, you will have access to the recorded Zoom class for 7 days. Attendance is an important part of the experience.
We all have a unique writing process. It provides us not only with the foundation to how we tell our stories, but setting aside the time to write. Giving yourself permission to create is the first step. I will help you discover your distinct process. This course is the starting point to developing your concept into a full manuscript. It delves into the fundamentals of storytelling. From idea to conflict to plot.
